Historic Bethabara Park: Celebrating the birthplace of Winston-Salem

While it was meant only as a temporary settlement, Bethabara became an important part of the Moravian story, and of the story of North Carolina. It effectively established a Moravian foothold in the Piedmont, and with its success came the creation of the towns of Bethania, Salem, Friedberg, Friedland, and Hope. Its people endured the hardships of both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. They endured despite these challenges due to their unwavering faith and sense of community. Their story continues today through the written and archaeological records they left behind and a historic site eager to share them.
